The 5 Levels of Change Mastery

Heads of Commercial Excellence: I've been at every one of these levels myself, so this isn't a lecture. It's a field report.

• Level 1, The Analyst: I built one of the biggest playbook libraries in the world on the assumption that great information produces great results. For many companies it helped. For others, the information wasn't the bottleneck.

• Level 2, The Manager: Added structure and accountability. Worked while the structure was in place.

• Level 3, The Facilitator: Got everyone aligned and feeling heard. Agreement was real. New habits, not so much.

Every one of these levels creates genuine value. The shift I've seen is that the environment, pace, complexity, competing priorities, has outgrown what Levels 1-3 can sustain on their own. Not because they're wrong, but because more is being asked of transformation leaders now.

Levels 4 and 5 are where things changed for me.
